Ever just wanted to look like you've just come off the most relaxing, all inclusive, sunny holiday ever? Me too! Which is why I love to add a bit of bronzer to my makeup routine, not just during the summer months, but also during the winter months to warm my skin up a little. Bronzer really is an all year round favourite product of mine.

If you've read my blog post from last week (all about highlight), then you'll know I prefer the texture of a creamy powder to a liquid. This is the same for bronzer too. I find with creamy powders they are easier to blend out and build up. With liquid products, such as bronzer, you don't have as much wriggle room for imperfections. Once it's on your face - it's on! They do blend well, but I find they're harder to get the end result you want. I'm all about the easy life... especially when it comes to makeup.

Finding the right shade of bronzer for you is so important when making your purchase decision. You don't want anything too dark or warm for your skin tone, as it will leave you with harsh lines and an orange face (you know, the Trump look!).

I always find watching YouTube reviews on makeup products super helpful. People tend to be honest online and weigh up the pros and cons. You can also watch them apply the bronzer and pick up lots of quick tips and tricks. As they say, every day's a school day, and it's the same with makeup! You can think you've learnt everything and then they'll bring out a new technique and you'll find it life changing (me? dramatic? never!).

Over the years, I've tried and tested many bronzers and application techniques (yes, there have been a few orange faces in the past!), so let me offer you some pointers when using this product for yourself:

  • Purchase a good makeup brush. I use the MAC 128 Split Fibre Cheek Brush. This brush picks up a good amount of product and is super flexible, which is perfect for blending out.

  • Focus on key areas. To achieve a sunkissed look, you want to be adding bronzer to your cheek bones, forehead, temples and under your jawline. Remember to start off with a gentle dusting and build up. It's easier to add more product than it is to remove it.

  • Blend, blend and blend again! To ensure you don't look orange, blend the bronzer as you go along. Keep checking your reflection in natural daylight to achieve the right finish for you.

My favourite bronzer is the MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in shade Give Me Sun! It's the perfect shade for me, as it gives just enough warmth and definition to be worn during the day, and then, due to it's buildable nature, you can add more and transition the look into the evening.

It's also great with flash photography and really gives you that golden hour effect.

So, although there may not be any holidays for us during 2020, I will be continuing to use my bronzer to make me feel like I've just got back from the best beach holiday ever! Let me know in the comments below what you guys will be doing to make you feel like you've got that holiday feeling!
