I'm pretty sure everyone has their own go-to products - items they reach for everyday and feel lost when they run out (that panic feeling when you keep pumping your foundation pump and nothing comes out... I cannot go to work like this!)
Well, I certainly do have a handful of products I cannot live without (and no, I'm not being dramatic hehe), but I am going to start with one - otherwise this blog post will be super long!
The first, and most important product, is my foundation. I have tried SO many in the past - maybe I will write a post about products I don't rate in the future too... but the one I am going to focus on today is the Dior Forever Matte foundation.
My preference for foundation is medium to full coverage, so if you like the lighter, more dewy look, then this particular foundation won't be for you. However, if you do like buildable coverage and a matte finish... then this is 100% worth a try.
Dior offer a wide colour palette in this product, I often range between 1N (in the Autumn/Winter months) and then a 2N (in the Spring/Summer months).
What I love about this product is how long lasting it is. It really does withstand a whole day at work (no more melted patches on the face!) and the coverage stays full without sitting in the pores.
The blending of this product is also good, you don't have to work with the product super quick before it sticks to your face which I've found Estee Lauder Double Wear does, (Double Wear fans out there, don't hate on me!). This product allows you to blend at your own pace and works well with a damp beauty blender.
My one tip would be - always work down your neck too. You don't want a harsh line left on your jaw line... photos won't hide this beauty blunder!
Talking about photos, this foundation is good with flash photography. It doesn't leave you looking as white as a ghost in pictures but instead helps with that flawless finish.
My skin type is normal/combination and during the day I do get a shiny t-zone. Although this foundation is amazing, I still find I need to eliminate the shine during the day with a compact powder. At the moment I use MAC and apply a dusting over the more shiny areas with a brush so it doesn't go on in clumps. It's important to also invest in good brushes - I use a range of Sigma brushes which really help apply your make-up products correctly.
The price point is a little higher than your usual high street foundations, but getting your base right is so important and if you're going to invest money in a product, then I recommend foundation is where you start.
