I don't know about you... but when the sun starts peaking through the clouds and we approach summer, it sparks a renewed interest in me to try out different looks and makeup products.
As you'll know from reading my previous blog posts, my usual go to lip colour is pink and my eyeshadow colour is brown. Well... as soon as we enter the summer months I change... I get all brave and decide that it's time to get out the corals, reds, purples, blues, the list really does go on. As I start adding new products into my online shopping basket I look at myself in the mirror and think, this is it... this is my moment to be a Greek Goddess! (By the way, I don't naturally tan and I'm an English Rose through and through, but I can dream of a more exotic land right?!).
I've tried and tested over the years many products that promise you a natural sunkissed look, and I can report, only a few of the products have made it into my permanent summer makeup bag. So, you can be confident in knowing the products I write about, I truly love and only the best make it into my life ;)
I'm not going to write a blog post about all of the products I use during the summer, I will spread them out over a few posts otherwise you will manage to get through multiple cups of tea OR better still, a whole bottle of prosecco by the time you finish reading this!
The first product I want to write about today is the Hourglass Cosmetics Blush and Highlight in Luminous Flush. This blush/highlight is so beautiful and can be worn both during the day and the evening. As it's a very buildable product, you can easily layer it up without it looking cakey on your skin. It's a gorgeous light pink shade with sprinkles of a gold highlight. When it catches the sunlight it's stunning and really shows up in photos too.
This blush is quite expensive, retailing at £38, but it lasts a long time and a little really does go a long way. It also comes in a mirrored compact, perfect for special evenings out or if you're at an all day event such as a wedding, where you can use the mirror to top up your blush and other parts of your makeup too.

As you can see from the picture above, it really does give a beautiful natural colour to your cheeks and, as it also acts as a highlight, it gives the illusion of a real sunkissed finish to your skin.
The second product I want to talk about, is my new favourite lip colour for the summer... as I said at the beginning of the blog, as soon as the sun arrives I get all brave with new colours.
As you can see from the picture below, this lip colour is the perfect combination of red, coral and even gold. I don't think you could get more summertime vibes than this!

This colour catches the natural sunlight so well and as the lipstick texture is creamy, it makes your lips feel extremely nourished and plump.
So... the big reveal! This dream duo is by MAC. The lipstick (which honestly is beautiful) is MAC Lustre Lipstick in Cannes Do! And the gloss is MAC Grand Illusion Liquid Lipcolour in Twinkle Twink. I cannot rave about them enough. If you are thinking of investing in a new coral/red lipstick, then this is the ONE. As you can see below, the lip gloss really does catch the light and look gold... dreamy right?!

So, that's all from me for now. I'll be back next week to let you in on a few more of my favourite summertime makeup products and what I just can't live without.
Oh and one last thing, let me know in the comments box below what your favourite summertime lip colour is. Is it red/coral like mine? Or different?
